U.S. Representative LaMalfa Dies at 65

The fourth-generation rice farmer from California was serving his seventh term in Congress.

U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa died of an aneurysm and heart attack while being taken for surgery on Tuesday.

Congressman LaMalfa was a fourth-generation rice farmer from Northern California who was serving his seventh term in the House of Representatives. He sat on the House Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. He previously served in the state legislature.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota stated, “Jacquie and I are devastated about the sudden loss of our friend, Congressman Doug LaMalfa. Doug was a loving father and husband, and staunch advocate for his constituents and rural America. Our prayers are with Doug’s wife, Jill, and their children.”

Representative Richard Hudson of North Carolina stated, “Doug was a principled conservative and a tireless advocate for the people of Northern California. He was never afraid to fight for rural communities, farmers, and working families. Doug brought grit, authenticity, and conviction to everything he did in public service.“ He added, “I will deeply miss my ‘amigo.’”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God’s comfort for Representative LaMalfa’s wife, family, and loved ones.
